The Diwali of the Gods
Dev Deepawali is celebrated on Kartik Purnima, fifteen days after Diwali.
According to Hindu tradition, this sacred day marks Lord Shiva's victory over Tripurasura. Devotees also believe that the gods descend to Kashi to bathe in the holy Ganga.
As evening arrives, thousands upon thousands of earthen lamps are lit across the ghats and temples of Varanasi.
